Sonja Wall Console by Mark Levin

Mark Levin creates sculptural furniture and contemporary wood sculpture that blur the line between functional object and fine art. Working primarily in solid hardwoods, his furniture, wall sculpture, and freestanding sculpture are distinguished by fluid profiles, organic forms, and a strong sense of movement.
Many of Levin’s forms have their roots in the fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and flower gardens that surrounded him growing up. Apples, pears, leaves, flower petals, and other familiar natural forms are transformed through abstraction into tables, benches, consoles, shelves, and sculpture.
Much of the work is created using stack lamination, a process in which smaller pieces of wood are joined to form massive sculptural blanks. Levin then shapes these forms with chainsaws and grinders before moving progressively to finer power tools and hand tools to define the final curves and surfaces.
Levin’s work has been exhibited nationally and recognized with numerous awards, including Best Sculptor Exhibitor at ART Santa Fe, First Place Woodworking at the Western Design Exhibition, and multiple NICHES Awards. His work has also been exhibited at the Smithsonian Fine Craft Show, SOFA Chicago, and the Cincinnati Art Museum, and is part of the Mint Museum's permanent collection.
Mark Levin Studio is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and welcomes inquiries from collectors, interior designers, architects, and clients interested in commissioned sculptural furniture and sculpture.
