Shipping the Work

IT CAN BE PRICEY

  • The cost of shipping is no longer an afterthought. Since the deregulation of the trucking industry decades ago and the shortage of truck drivers, now estimated at over 80,000 as of 2021, shipping prices are expected to increase approximately 10% to 20% in the next few years.

  • There are additional fees for residential delivery, lift gate delivery, inside threshold delivery (not available with all carriers).

LTL-What is that?

  •  Most work is shipped via LTL (less-than-full truckload) common carriers or freight forwarding companies.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

  • We use various air freight companies.

  • International Shipping has additional fees which are the responsibility of the customer including but not limited to custom fees, broker fees, financial transaction fees, etc.

CURBSIDE DELIVERY

  • Unless you order the optional service "Inside Threshold Delivery" (see below), the driver will not bring the crate into the house or office due to liability and insurance issues.

INSIDE THRESHOLD DELIVERY

  • At an additional charge, you can order "Inside Threshold Delivery", but not all freight lines offer the service. They will only bring the crate through the doorway or "inside the threshold", but no farther.

  • They will not manipulate the crate in any way to get it into a residence or office such as turning a crate on its side to fit through a doorway or onto an elevator.

  • The crate must fit through the entryway and/or elevator as it comes off the truck.  Be sure to measure your entry. Dimensions, weight, and images of the actual crate are emailed before the work ships.

  •  The protection of the floor is the responsibility of the customer. They will not provide material to cover and protect the floor, carpet or rugs.

  •  This "Inside Threshold Fee" is not refundable even if turns out the crate won't fit through the doorway or elevator.

WHY NOT BLANKET WRAPPED DELIVERY?

  • Blanket wrap service tends to be more expensive and often requires that a piece is crated if it's deemed fragile, such as the Leaf Tables plus insurance is more expensive than with LTL carriers.

  • Additionally,  delivery can be delayed up to three or four weeks. Blanket wrapped delivery services wait until they have several pieces going to the same area of the country. They do not just pick up the work and then immediately ship it.

SO HOW MUCH IS IT GOING TO COST?

  • A freight quote is provided as a line item in the Purchase Agreement.

OKAY, SO HOW DO I GET IT FROM THE CURB INTO MY RESIDENCE OR OFFICE?
